These Cheesy Sourdough Discard Crackers are one of my favorite creations yet. Not only are they incredibly easy to make, but they’re also incredibly versatile, making them the perfect snack for any occasion.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 c sourdough discard
- 1 c shredded cheese (cheddar, Parmesan, or your favorite cheese)
- 1/2 c all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (such as thyme, rosemary, or oregano)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
- Preheat Your Oven:Preheat your oven to 350 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Dough:In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough discard, shredded cheese, all-purpose flour, melted butter, garlic powder, dried herbs, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until a dough forms, adding more flour if needed to achieve a smooth, workable consistency.
- Chill the Dough:let chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours
- Roll Out the Dough:Pull out from the fridge
- Lightly flour a clean work surface, and roll out the dough into a thin sheet, about 1/8 inch thick. The thinner you roll the dough, the crispier the crackers will be.
- Cut Into Shapes:Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut the dough into your desired shapes. You can go for traditional squares or get creative with fun shapes like circles or triangles.
- Bake Until Golden Brown:Transfer the cut-out crackers to the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crackers are golden brown and crisp.
- Cool and Enjoy:Remove the crackers from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet.
- Once cooled, transfer the crackers to an airtight container for storage.
