I’ll also discuss why building a website and a few other options and tips to get you creating in no time.

1. Choose Your Domain Name

A domain name is the web address where users can access your website, like mine www.kirstenbyers.com.

Tips for Choosing a Domain Name:

  • Keep it Simple: Choose a name that is easy to remember, spell, and pronounce. Avoid anything too long or easy to misspell.
  • Use Keywords: If possible, include keywords related to your business or content.
  • Avoid Numbers and Hyphens: These can be confusing and hard to remember.
  • Check Availability: Use domain registrars like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains to check if your desired name is available.

I got my domain name from Namecheap, which offers new .com domains for $5.98 for the first year of registration. Remember, this is an upfront cost, and you’ll decide how long to register your domain for (1-5 years).

2. Register Your Domain Name

  1. Select a Registrar: You can search popular registrars including GoDaddy, Namecheap, and Google Domains. I chose Namecheap to register my domain.
