My Summer Routine
Summer Routine: A Peek Into My Daily Life
Summer is my absolute vibe. The warmth and brightness of the sun give me the biggest boost of energy. I am my best self in the summer. Here’s a peek into my summer routine: how I manage my time with my kids, my skincare routine, and how starting the day feeling great.
Wake Up, Sunshine
As soon as I wake up, I open all the blinds to let the sunshine fill the house. This is one of my favorite times of the day. Sometimes, if the weather is nice, I put up the baby gates (since we haven’t added a storm door yet) and let Auzzy look out the open door. He loves it, and it gives me a moment to savor my coffee in quiet.
Morning Nourishment for a Productive Day
After drinking my coffee if I can, the next step is feeding Auzzy. He usually wakes up hungry. Sometimes, we put on an episode of Bluey in the mornings, or his favorite lately, Bubble Guppies—. By the time Auzzy finishes his breakfast, my daughter Shea is usually awake. I get her ready for the day, and we all finish getting cleaned up.
My Skincare Routine for Glowing Skin
One of the essential parts of my morning is my skincare routine. I’ve always believed that less is more, especially with my busy schedule. Here’s what I do: I start with a warm washcloth to refresh my skin, followed by a lightweight moisturizer to keep it hydrated throughout the day. A little bit of vitamin c serum, and SPF. This simple, efficient routine keeps my skin healthy and glowing, even on the busiest of mornings.
Starting Our Day: Morning
Depending on the day, I like getting outside when I can. Early morning outdoor time helps set a positive tone for the rest of the day. Around 10:30-11, it’s time for the baby’s lunch. After feeding Auzzy, we clean up and have some playtime before his nap.
Nap Time Productivity
Nap times are unpredictable with Auzzy; some days he takes two naps, other days just one. I take it day by day since a strict schedule doesn’t work with him. While he naps, I catch up on chores, clean up the morning’s mess, and usually make another cup of coffee—a little treat for myself. This is also my time to work on my blog or website, getting as much done as I can before he wakes back up.
Evening Adventures
Dinner prep starts early in the evening. I usually make whatever was pulled out earlier and clean up as I go. After dinner, we love taking the kids outside to soak up the late summer sunshine. Shea rides her scooter while Auzzy enjoys his push car. We stroll by the lake and hang out until it’s time for baths and bedtime.
Winding Down
By the time the kids are in bed, it’s later in the evening. Sometimes I’ll take my shower at night to unwind. My schedule varies a lot depending on the kids and what needs to get done, but I always prioritize these moments as if they were deadlines at work. It might seem silly, but these routines are what keep our days running smoothly, even if it isn’t a completely set schedule.
Embracing My Homebody Nature
I’m such a homebody, especially during the summer. I don’t usually go, go, go. I’m trying to be better about not letting my anxiety get the best of me, but some days my anxiety wins. On those days, I remind myself that it’s okay to take it slow and enjoy the comfort of home.
Once my kids are asleep, I’m usually not too far behind them. Some days I try to do what I can the night before for the next day, and some mornings I’ll leave more than enough for myself, but that’s okay. That’s all part of it.
